• you already have enough bigger Li River identity elsewhere
• the group would enjoy sitting with scenery more than chasing another famous photo

Skip or demote it when:

• only one scenic half day can fit and the route still needs Xingping
• the whole region is too short
• the trip already is overloaded with paid scenic add-ons

Why rafting is often the best Yulong version

The rafting version usually works because it keeps the Yulong experience honest:

• scenic
• easy
• countryside-led

That fits the best version of Yangshuo for many first-time visitors.

When it beats one more town hour

It usually beats more West Street time when:

• the evening already is protected
• the trip still needs one real countryside answer
• the route wants the soft side of Yangshuo, not just the social side

When Xingping still wins

Choose Xingping Ancient Town: Go for the river edge, not the old-street fantasy instead if:

• the route still needs the stronger iconic-river branch
• the 20 RMB geography matters
• the scenic half day should feel more famous than soft
